GLENWOOD FOCUSES ON CAREERS DURING 'LUNCH AND LEARN' Chiropractor Dr. Kyle Muir with 6 BGJHS students after a lunch and learn

Glenwood Jr. High is starting something new this year to help students connect with potential careers.  Professionals and skilled trades workers will be featured during "lunch and learn" sessions at least once a month.

The first guest was November 14. Dr. Kyle Muir, a chiropractor who recently opened his practice in Boardman, used models of vertebrae and skeletons to talk about what his job entails.

CENTER STUDENTS MAKE ORNAMENTS AND WRITE LETTERS TO SOLDIERS OVERSEAS students holding popsicle ornaments to be sent to soldiers overseas

"Happy Holidays & Thank You for your service!"  BCIS students wrote more than 700 letters, and made hundreds of ornaments as part of Project Evergreen's yearly mission for our soldiers overseas.

Four Boardman Center Intermediate School students were among the 22 winners recognized for the Annual “Stay In School” Poster Contest sponsored by the Mahoning County Juvenile Court Advisory Board.  They were recognized at the Embassy Banquet Center on November 7.

Boardman Soccer Programs Sweep Top Honors in D-1 boys and girls coaches and tommy fryda isabella alvarico

The Boardman High School Soccer Programs swept the top honors for Division I in both Boys and Girls Soccer at the Youngstown District Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association's selections recently .

Senior Tommy Fryda was voted the Division I - District Player of the Year for Boys Soccer

Senior Isabella Alvarico was selected the Division I District Player of the Year for Girls Soccer

Congratulations to BHS English teacher, Steve Shurtleff.  He's been named a  Dunkin Donuts "Class Act" Award winner.  A student nominated Mr. Shurtleff, calling him "supportive, witty, and respectful."  He was featured on WFMJ-Today's morning show on October 30.

 Boardman High School  junior, Sam Holter,  has won the Ohio Turnpike’s W82TXT Teen Video Contest.  Sam's PSA is a creative and poignant 60- second spot  designed to grab the attention of teens and adults alike.

New Germ Fighting Tool For West Boulevard Elementary

West Boulevard Elementary is getting a boost to its germ-fighting arsenal-- thanks to a donation from the PTA.  The PTA purchased an electrostatic sprayer that can disinfect areas more quickly, and also sanitize hard-to-get-to places and objects.  For instance, Nurse Melanie Cochran shows how letter magnets can be sprayed, and within a minute, the solution evaporates, but still thoroughly covers and disinfects.  

 

Robinwood Participates In National Walk to School Day elementary students with bright yellow vests walking to school

Students and teachers at Robinwood Lane Elementary participated in National Walk to School Day on October 2.  The day is designed to promote student safety and exercise.
