Quick Look at Learn At Home Wednesdays put this on your calendar graphic

Beginning in November,  both remote and in-person learners will learn from home on Wednesdays.  The Dates affected for the Second 9-weeks are:

NOVEMBER 4, 11, & 18

DECEMBER 2, 9, & 16

JANUARY 6 & 13

CHROMEBOOKS HAVE ARRIVED! 1:1 TECHNOLOGY GRADES 7-12 Mr. Cardillo handing out chromebooks to glenwood students

CARES federal money has allowed the district to purchase 2,000 Chromebooks to distribute to our 7th through 12 grade students.  It allows for 1:1 technology at BHS and BGJHS.  The devices formerly used by 7th-12th, will now go to fortify our younger grades with more devices.

The Student Services  Department is asking our parents to take a few minutes to take a new survey.  Our special education and support staff, along with our new parent mentor are working hard to make this a successful year for all of our Spartans.

MEALS FOR REMOTE LEARNERS/ WEEKEND MEALS FOR ALL LEARNERS order online graphic with food icons

FREE meals are available for Remote Learners--but they MUST be Pre-ordered online each week by Thursday at 3 PM the week prior. (included will be 7 breakfasts/ 7 lunches)

IN-PERSON LEARNERS may also order free WEEKEND MEALS- for pickup.

Pickup regardless of which building the student attends, will be every Monday, at Boardman High School from 1-2 PM-  or 4-5 PM.  Please read more for details.

Congratulations West Blvd. Elementary: Two-Time National Blue Ribbon School!! National Blue Ribbon School 2020 Emblem

West Boulevard Elementary School is honored to be named  a National Blue Ribbon School 2020.  U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos this afternoon (Sept. 24) recognized West as one of only 367 schools in the country to earn the prestigious honor, and one of the very few in the nation to have won the award twice.

GLENWOOD XC RUNNER UNDEFEATED AND WILL COMPETE AT STATE David D'Altorio running on course

Boardman Glenwood Junior High stand-out Cross Country runner, David D’Altorio will compete in the Middle School State Cross Country Championship on Sunday, October 25, at Dublin Jerome High School in Columbus.

D'Altorio came in 1st in every meet he raced this year, and broke a 10 year record at the Columbiana Clipper Invitational.

GIRLS SOCCER PINK RIBBON GAME DONATES TO FIGHT BREAST CANCER Girls soccer team on the field with coaches and pink ribbons/flowers

The Boardman Girls Soccer Team held their annual "Pink Ribbon Game" on Monday, October 12th .  The team raised $1,300 dollars to donate to the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center.  A big thank you to all who donated and to the volunteers!

BOARDMAN BAND NEW UNIFORM DEDICATION SHOW OCTOBER 16 band on the field with new uniforms

The Boardman Spartan Marching Band will be performing a special hour-long show on Friday, October 16 at 7 PM in Spartan Stadium.  The band wore its brand new uniforms for the first time at the October 9th playoff game...and It was SPECTACULAR!

Fire Prevention Week: BSTN Produces Virtual Lesson for Students fire prevention week graphic

Fire Prevention Week is October 10-14.  For the past several years, your Boardman Fire Department has partnered with the Boardman Schools, its students and our Boardman community through truck demos and fire safety trailer visits.

This year, the in-person visit is replaced by a safety video produced by BSTN students.  Multi-media teacher Chris Clones and his students created this 12 minute video focusing on 3 parts:  1) Fire Truck Tour, 2) Fire Safety Lessons from the Safety Trailer, and 3) the Fire Department's  newly acquired Fire Extinguisher Training System.

WEEKLY VIRTUAL HIRING EVENT: EDUCATION POSITIONS AVAILABLE VIRTUAL HIRING EVENT

The Mahoning County Educational Service Center will hold Virtual Hiring opportunities every Tuesday, beginning October 6,  at 9 AM.  Available positions include substitute teachers, tutors, special services aides, school nurse substitutes, and preschool aides.

CONGRATULATIONS MR. HARKER! OHIO DISTRICT 8 TEACHER OF THE YEAR Mr. Tim Harker, Glenwood Jr. High Technology Teacher

Congratulations to Glenwood Junior High Technology teacher Tim Harker, on being awarded Ohio District 8 Teacher of the Year 2021!  

Harker is among a select group of 11 educators from across the state, and represents District 8 which includes 12 Counties in the state.  

UPDATE ON USDA WAIVER: ALL BOARDMAN STUDENTS EAT FREE FREE LUNCH GRAPHIC

Beginning Monday, September 14, all meals served to Boardman students are Free of Charge.  The USDA has signed an extension of the School Nutrition Waiver until December 31, 2020, or until USDA funds are depleted.  Free meals include school breakfasts and lunches, but not ala carte items.

Students do not need to be eligible for free or reduced lunch to receive these meals.
