WINTER CONCERT OF THE BANDS FEBRUARY 27 boardman wind ensemble on performing arts stage

The Winter Concert of the Boardman Bands is set for Thursday, February 27 at 7 p.m. at the Boardman Performing Arts Center.  The concert features Boardman High School's Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble, as well as the Percussion Ensemble, Flute Choir, and Trombone Ensemble.   

Donation is $3 for Adults and senior citizens are admitted free of charge.  Senior Soloist is John Blinsky on the trombone.

DISTRICT ANNOUNCES 'REMIND' AS OFFICIAL COMMUNICATION TOOL REMIND 101 graphic

Over the coming weeks, Boardman Local Schools will be implementing REMIND 101, as the official tool for communication between administrators, parents, teachers, coaches, advisors, and students.  

With REMIND, educators can send messages instantly from their phone or computers while students and families have the option of receiving messages by text, smartphone app, or email.  Please read on for more details about how to use REMIND and how to delete old accounts. 

SPARTANS FEATURED IN 'LOCALLY SPEAKING' FOR ANTI VAPING AND HEART HEALTH SEGMENT

February is Heart Health Month.  The American Heart Association and Armstrong Cable recently came to Boardman High School to tape an hour-long special now running on Armstrong channel 100, called Locally Speaking.

Our students and administrators are featured as they discuss the dangers of vaping, and our community commitment against anything that leads to a nicotine addiction for our students.

 

BOARDMAN AWARDED PARENT MENTOR GRANT--APPLY HERE! job opportunity graphic, hiring new parent mentor position

 Boardman Local Schools has been awarded Ohio’s Parent Mentor Project grant from The Ohio Department of Education!  

This $25,000 grant allows Boardman Local Schools to hire a part-time parent mentor to provide free support and resources to families of children with disabilities.   If you are interested in applying for the position, please read on.

CONGRATULATIONS BOYS BOWLING AND LADY SPARTAN TEAMS! AAC BOWLING CHAMPS!! BOYS AND GIRLS BOWLING TEAMS HOLDING UP AAC AWARDS ON THE LANES

Congratulations to the boys and girls bowling teams!!  They each won the AAC Conference at the tournament on Sunday, January 26.  Way to go, Spartans!

SPARTAN SPOTLIGHTED FOR WORK AS WEATHERMAN bOARDMAN SENIOR ANTHONY STEINER DOING WEATHER FORECAST ON BSTN WFMJ PROFILE

As a student with autism, Boardman senior Anthony Steiner didn't start out enjoying the spotlight.  Today, he finds joy in performing, both on stage, and as a weatherman on BSTN-TV.

BHS ART TEACHER SHINES IN ONE-WOMAN ART SHOW boardman high school art teacher Jenna Hudock

BHS Art Teacher Jenna Hudock will have her own artwork on display at a one-woman show, beginning in January.  She recently spent two weeks at the GOLDEN Educators Residency in upstate New York-- one of only 3 teachers nationwide accepted into that prestigious summer program.  Artwork created there will be featured at her show at the Jewish Community Center in Youngstown.

Congressman Ryan Congratulates Boardman App Winners Congressman Ryan with app winners and Principal Fernback, Evelyn Stanton, Superintendent Saxton, Anne Bott and Kyle Sheehan

Congressman Tim Ryan presented certificates to three young women from Boardman High on January 7.  Juniors Emma Davis and Ranean Sulebi and senior Alara Erzurum won the Congressional App Challenge for the 13th District.  They will be invited to Washington, DC in the spring to showcase their app, alongside hundreds of students who won from congressional districts across the country.

BHS Conference Night

On Thursday, March 5, Boardman High School will provide a Parent-Teacher Conference Night for the 2019-2020 school year.

The 15-minute conferences may be scheduled by going online to https://signup.com/go/HbWnReu or by visiting our website under School Links, beginning Monday, February 17th at 8:00 AM until Tuesday, March 3rd at 3:00 PM.

At https://signup.com/go/HbWnReu, you will find instructions within the greeting on the homepage as to how to sign up with each teacher.

Please have the names of all the teachers you wish to schedule.  Tuesday March 3rd will be the last date that you can schedule any conference.  No conferences will be honored after this date. Also, walk-in conferences will not be honored.  

BHS Wins 2019 CONGRESSIONAL APP CHALLENGE! CONGRESSIONAL APP WINNERS EMMA DAVIS, RANEAN SULEBI, ALARA ERZURUM

A team of three young women from BHS has won the 2019 Congressional App Challenge for the 13th Congressional District.  Juniors Emma Davis and Ranean Sulebi, and senior Alara Erzurum invented an android app entitled “The Ohio Gun Obtaining Quiz.” It is an informative app with a goal of creating awareness of Ohio’s current gun laws.
