FORMER NFL PLAYER AND WARREN NATIVE WILL VISIT BGJHS Dan Boom Herron NFL player in his Ohio State Uniform

 

Boardman Glenwood Junior High students are excited  to welcome Warren native and former NFL running back  Dan “Boom” Herron to the school on Wednesday, March 27 at 2:45 PM.   It’s part of Boardman's “Grand Prize Win” in the NFL’s Fuel Up to Play 60 Program.

PROJECT MAYHEM ROCKS ON MARCH 22 project mayhem flier 2019

The Boardman High School Rock Orchestra will perform its 13th annual “Project Mayhem” event on Friday, March 22.  This 2-hour Rock Show combines the talents of the Boardman Orchestra, chart topping songs performed by the Boardman Choir, and a laser light show put on by Lightwave International of Pittsburgh.  It's been a sold-out performance for the past two years.

GLENWOOD STUDENT WILL COMPETE IN STATE GEOGRAPHY BEE Brock Ferris standing behind globe

Brock Farris, a 7th grade student at Glenwood Junior High, will compete in the 2019 Ohio State Geography Bee on Friday, March 29.  Brock earned a top score on the qualifying test to compete as one of only 100 students in Ohio.  

MILK TASTE TEST TO BETTER HEALTH milk taste test  filling "cookies and cream" milk into glass jug

The Milk Taste Test was a great success at Glenwood.  Thank you to Bakers Golden Dairy , and to Western Reserve Sparkle Market for bringing in Cookies and Cream, Cotton Candy, and Strawberry flavored milk for all of our students to try.  The students voted "Cookies and Cream" as their favorite, with Cotton Candy very close in the running.

Aspire Award Winners Aspire Award Winners at February 6 family night event with Jim Brown from Handels

 

The Handel’s Aspire Award recognizes students who have made improvements over the quarter in the area(s) of grades, attendance, and/or behavior.

 

Jim Brown, CEO of Handel's Ice Cream sponsors the  award --to encourage students to be the best person they can be, and they are recognized for great effort and attitude.

 

Nominating teachers, students, and their parents/guardians  were invited to attend a  recognition celebration during the PTA Family Night on February 6.

GLENWOOD BEANERY PROVIDES LIFELONG SKILLS Boardman Beanery coffee bar with students taking orders

Glenwood teachers and staff have a new favorite coffee spot--and they don't have to go far.  The student-run coffee bar makes a great cup of joe and other specialty drinks including hot chocolate. It's open every Friday before school begins, and the students manning the counter are learning money management, communication skills and how to work cash registers.
