The Boardman Schools Fund for Educational Excellence has awarded seven teacher mini-grants this year worth nearly $8,000. Communication and technology are at the forefront, and each grant will encourage 21st Century learning.
These Grants allow teachers to give students experiences which go beyond what is provided by state and local funding. Items to be purchased for the 2018/2019 school year include:
Translating Earpieces to be used by High School students who are learning English as a second language.
3D Pens, a Green Screen and Cricut cutter for STEAM projects including architectural drawings and 3D sculptures. (combining art and technology classes at Glenwood)
ELMO Visual Presenter Document Camera With Remote for students to evaluate and edit writing and revise together as a class
Wibble Wobble Work for flexible seating for elementary students with special needs
It’s Alive in Boardman Nature Field Study kits that include durable Fire Tablets with protective cases, measuring tape reels, marking flags, and digital angle finder rulers (7th/8th graders)
Integrating Literature to provide nonfiction works and combine reading with social studies, science and math content with hands on learning. (4th graders)
