Glenwood Jr. High students can continue to use the laptops and hotspots provided by the Mobile Beacon Connect for Success Grant through the end of this school year. Glenwood received the $15,000 grant last year that provided 25 computers with 25 hotspots with wireless internet for one year.
The original plan was to utilize the computers inside the classroom during labs and during field-work to collect data on water quality, plant and animal surveys along with our tracking phonological change in the schools watershed.
Since school shifted to distance learning in March of 2020, students in 7th and 8th grade were able to take home a computer and/or hotspot to have internet access to their online classes and keep up with their school work through the virtual classroom. Spartans are grateful that the Mobile Beacon Grant was extended for hotspot use through the end of the 2020-21 school year.
