State Auditor Liaison Jim Shaw presented the Clean Audit Award to Boardman Schools Treasurer Nick Ciarniello at the May 23 Board of Education Meeting. Shaw congratulated Boardman, saying this award is not easy to achieve. Only 10% of the more than 6,000 state audits done each year, receive a "Clean Audit Award."
In order to receive the award, a school district must meet a number of criteria upon completion of an audit including filing timely financial reports, following ethics, public meeting and public record criteria. Shaw complimented Treasurer Ciarniello, saying his office is doing a "fantastic" job.
