The annual Boardman High School Holiday Jazz Concert is Thursday, December 20 at 7 PM in the Boardman Performing Arts Center. All three of Boardman’s high school jazz ensembles will perform a mix of holiday selections and some standard jazz pieces.
Seasonal selections at the concert include: “Up On the Housetop,” “This Christmas,” Gordon Goodwin arrangements of “Santa Baby” and “The Little Drummer Boy,” and a vocal rendition of “The Christmas Song.” The Bands will also play “Baby, You’ve Got What it Takes,” “Little Sunflower,” “Blackbird,” Ray Charles’ “Let The Good Times Roll,” and more. Jazz Ensemble 2 will give a preview of it’s upcoming basketball game performances with “Forget You” as done by Cee Lo Green. Featured vocalists for the evening are John Blinsky, Peter Fernandez, James Jama, Miranda Russell, and Miles Spearman.
The ensembles under the direction of Thomas M. Ruggieri think of this concert as the Jazz Program’s annual gift to the community so admission will NOT be collected at the doors which open at 6:30 PM.
