The 19th annual BHS Jazz Fest is Tuesday, March 26 at 7 PM in the Boardman Performing Arts Center. The event features BHS Jazz Ensembles 1, 2, and 3, and the 8th Grade Jazz Ensemble. This year’s special guest artist is Andy Martin, who has played with the likes of Michael Buble, Coldplay, and the Pussycat Dolls, to name a few.
Admission at the door is $5.00. Senior citizens are admitted free. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.
The BHS Jazz Program continues to collect honors and unique opportunities like opening acts for Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band and the Buddy Rich Big Band.
Jazz 1 and 2 have played several engagements at New York City’s famous jazz club Swing 46, B.B. King’s Blues Club, and the Blue Wisp in Cincinnati, BluJazz+ in Akron, and the Brothers Lounge in Cleveland.
Summer performances include appearances at Firestone Park in Columbiana, Boardman Park and Waterworth Memorial Park in Salem. Check the Band Website for details at www.boardmanband.org.
