Sam’s video, entitled “Are You There” re-enacts a texting and driving scene in which he plays all the roles. He shot, edited, and produced the video--skills he began at the age of 8, using an iPad and his lego figures to make short movies. He has honed and refined those video production skills in the BSTN (Boardman Schools Television Network) program at Boardman High School.
“We are incredibly proud of Sam, his dedication to the BSTN program, and all of his accomplishments,” said Media Production Teacher Chris Clones. “Sam is also the technical director, choosing the shots that run on our Video Board during Football and Soccer Games at Spartan Stadium. He has a hand in almost all facets of our program.”
As the Grand Prize winner, Sam may choose between the following 3 prizes: A Go Pro Camera, an Apple iPad, or a $250 Amazon Gift Card. He also will receive a check for $500 to donate to a booster club of his choosing at Boardman High School.
This is the second time that the 17 year old has been awarded the top prize in a statewide contest. Sam was also part of the 4-student team that won last year’s “Stand Up For Public Schools” video contest, beating out nearly 70 entries statewide.
