Boardman School Board Approves Land Transfer To Pave the Way for Stormwater Park

School board members with Superintendent Tim Saxton and Treasurer Armstrong

At a special joint meeting on September 14, Boardman School Board members voted to transfer approximately 14.6 acres of land along Market Street to the ABC Water and Wastewater Authority.  It's a joint venture to create the Forest Lawn Stormwater Park. The $3 Million dollar project will take two years to complete, and will include walking trails, pollinator gardens, and wildflower meadows.  Most importantly, it will alleviate flooding to some 1400 homes in the area.

The former Market Street Elementary School will be razed to make way for the project, and ABC has secured funding for that. Boardman School District still owns the  front portion of the property in front of the school building, and will be auctioning that property soon.
