Many people have asked why a fence was erected behind Center Middle School near the main entrance - Door #1. Several complaints were made that it is not as convenient to park or to drop off students. The fence is all about making our buildings more secure and implementing our plan for making our schools safer.
One year ago we contracted a security company to conduct a safety assessment of all seven of our school buildings. Many recommendations were made both in the area of our procedures and in needed building upgrades. The fence at Center Middle is one of the many upgrades you will see over the upcoming months. Earlier this year we implemented the Raptor school visitor management system. This system screens all visitors and will tip off school officials if a child predator tries to gain access to the school. Soon you will see new signage at all our buildings and more secure entrances. Specifically, we will be constructing neutral security entrances also know as mantraps in all buildings.
As you can see, the Board of Education and administration take school security seriously and want every child to feel safe at school.
