BHS 2024 YESFest Welcomes NFL's Corey Linsley!
Updated

On Friday, September 13, Boardman High School will host its 10th  YESFest.  The Anti-Drug Event was created in 2013 to challenge students to go a step beyond just saying “No to Drugs” by saying “Yes” to something positive.

This year, Spartan alum and recently retired NFL Center, Corey Linsley is the guest speaker. His journey and perseverance from Boardman, to Ohio State, and into the NFL, as well as his personal reputation for outstanding character and giving back, makes him an ideal role model for our Spartans.

Linsley will speak to more than 1,100 High School Students in the Boardman Performing Arts Center at 9 AM.  He will then address nearly  600  Boardman Glenwood Junior High 7th and 8th graders at 10AM.  Each session is expected to last approximately 50 minutes.

“YESFest has evolved over the years with different themes including mental health and wellness and volunteerism,” said BHS Assistant Principal Kyle Sheehan. “Corey’s storied 10-year career in the NFL, as well as his two-time nomination as the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year for his devotion to children and families and giving back, make us very proud to call him a Spartan.  We feel he can connect to our students to talk about the ups and downs, the grit, and flexibility it requires to make good choices,” added Sheehan.

Linsley is a 2009 graduate of Boardman High School who excelled in Football as well as being a Track and Field stand out. In fact, he was a regional and league champion as well as state medalist in shot put while attending BHS.  He currently lives in California with his wife, Anna, and their 4 children.
