Boardman High School is pleased to announce that senior Swathi Padmanabhan has been recognized by the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program as a National Merit Semifinalist.  She is among a select group of 16,000 students from across the nation  who will go on to compete as a potential Finalist and earn substantial scholarship money in the National Merit Scholars Program this spring.

As a semifinalist, Padmanabhan is among the top one percent of U.S. high school seniors in the National Merit Program and is  included among the highest scoring entrants in each state. 

Padmanabhan is currently the vice president of BHS National Honor Society, the captain of the BHS Speech and Debate Team, the president of Robotics Club, a state qualifier in  Envirothon, the Quiz Bowl captain, and a Link Crew leader. She takes mentorship and tutoring to a high level,  volunteering her time as a STEAM coach and mentor to Boardman middle schoolers. 

“I want to pursue a masters in computer engineering and right now,  Georgia Tech and Ohio State are my top college choices,” said Padmanabhan.
