The Boardman Board of Education held its annual Organizational Meeting on January 7, 2026, welcoming a new board member and selecting leadership for the year ahead.

R. Scot Murray was sworn in as the newest member of the Boardman School Board by Treasurer A.J. Ginnetti. Re-elected members John Landers, Victoria Davis, and Tom Varley also renewed their oaths of office for new four-year terms. Candace Rivera was elected Board President and John Landers as Vice President.

A lifelong Boardman resident and third-generation Spartan, Murray is a BHS Class of 1988 graduate and the father of three Boardman alumni. He has served the community for 24 years as a Boardman firefighter and has worked in his family’s local insurance business since 1994. His community leadership includes serving as President of the Boardman Soccer Association, past president of the Boardman Tennis and Swim Club, and holding several leadership roles with Firefighters Local 1176.

Murray and his wife, Amy, raised three daughters, all graduates of Boardman Schools. Their two oldest daughters reside in Florida, while their youngest recently graduated and lives here in the Mahoning Valley.

“Scot Murray brings a lifetime of service, leadership, and deep community pride to the Boardman Board of Education,” said Superintendent Chris Neifer. “His experience working with youth programs, first responders, and local organizations will be a tremendous asset as we continue to move our district forward.”
