Happy Retirement Mrs. Winkle!
Updated

Boardman Local Schools proudly congratulates Food Service Supervisor Natalie Winkle on her retirement after 12 years of dedicated service to the district.

Known for her energy, creativity, and passion for student wellness, Mrs. Winkle’s impact extended far beyond providing delicious and nutritious meals for Boardman’s Spartans. Her vision helped launch innovative programs that connected nutrition, education, and hands-on learning for students of all ages.

Among her many accomplishments, Mrs. Winkle began the Tot Chef Program through grant funding—an afterschool initiative that teaches students how to prepare healthy snacks while learning basic cooking skills. She also started a gardening club at Boardman High School, transforming an overgrown internal courtyard into a thriving space producing vegetables and berries. In addition, she introduced hydroponic Flex Farms in several school buildings, allowing students to grow fresh lettuce that was served directly on cafeteria lines.

Boardman Local Schools thanks Natalie Winkle for her years of service, innovation, and care for students, and wishes her all the best in a happy and well-deserved retirement.

After a thorough interview process, Beth Habeger, Mrs. Winkle's longtime assistant, was chosen to replace her as Food Service Supervisor effective in January.
