First Place Essay Moves onto State Competion

 

 On March 7, the Boardman Optimist Club awarded the winners of  its  annual township-wide essay contest with a presentation at Boardman High School’s Media Center.  Optimist Club President, Sgt. Chuck Hillman,  presented certificates and Amazon gift-cards to  Boardman High School sophomore Julianna Douglass (first place), BHS junior  Giada Ezzo (second place), and BHS sophomore, Nicholas Leskiw (third place). 

The contest is open to all area high school students in Boardman Township. The essay question this year was “Who is an Everyday Hero that Brings out Optimism in You?”

As the first place winner, Julianna Douglass’ essay will advance to the Ohio District Level of the contest for a chance to win a $2,500 scholarship.
