Boardman School District's Vision Statement encompasses more than 100 years of excellence in education. This year, Boardman High School is once again at the top of the list for the best Ohio High Schools in U.S. News and World Report. Boardman also tops the list of Best School Districts in the Mahoning Valley on the vigorous school ranking website, Niche.com The district educates nearly 4,000 students across 6 school buildings.
Robinwood Lane, Stadium Drive and West Boulevard Elementary Schools: Our three neighborhood elementary schools (K-3) are aligned under the same reading, writing, and math curriculum to ensure a smooth transition into our middle school and 4th grade. Elementary students enjoy Mentorship Programs that pair our youngsters with High School role models, and vast opportunities to get involved in community and school activities including STEAM programs , Music, and Art. All three of our Elementary Schools have been awarded the prestigious National Blue Ribbon School Award; Robinwood Lane Elementary in the Fall of 2023, Stadium Drive in 2018, and West Boulevard is a rare two-time National Blue Ribbon School Award Winner in 2011 and again in 2020.
Boardman Center Intermediate School (4-5-6) partners with the community to provide extra supports for students, as well as creating a positive and uplifting learning environment. BCIS created a new Sensory Room in the Spring of 2021. In the 2022-23 school year a Social Emotional Learning Center was added on the second floor. A collaboration with Second Harvest Food Bank and the Boardman Lions Club helped establish a daily School Food Pantry, the first of its kind in the Mahoning Valley. Students are engaged, and taught to be socially aware and responsive to others' needs. They participate in a variety of athletic, artistic and academic opportunities.
Boardman Glenwood Jr. High(7-8) has received more than $80,000 in Federal and State grants since 2015 for extensive science, physical fitness, and general educational programs. Some of these include hydroponics for plant studies, aquaponics for ecosystem studies, weather balloon for atmospheric studies, wind turbine kits and an Industrial Compost System (EPA funded) to reduce cafeteria waste by 35% and turn it into compost for the Certified National Wildlife Habitat maintained by students in the school's courtyard.
Boardman High School (9-12) Boardman has 1:1 technology district wide, and a strong emphasis on STEM and hands-on learning. BHS has several new career-focused programs including a partnership with YSU to connect BHS students to Micro-Engineering, and a new Skilled Trades Apprenticeship Prep program in our Industrial Arts Department. Computer programming, gaming, 3D printing, video production, entrepreneurship, business, and financial literacy classes are available and greatly enjoyed by our students.
Boardman High School has a grammy-winning music program with 13 performance based ensembles: 5 choral groups, 4 orchestras, 3 jazz bands and BHS Marching Band. They perform year-round and Boardman Schools has been recognized as a 2024 Best Community in Music Education. BHS offers a vast number of fine arts opportunities including drawing, sculpture, woodworking, painting, digital art, and photography. Students enjoy learning in the professional level Broadcast Studio (BSTN) where they record/produce athletic games, concerts, and community content.
