Breaking 3 state and a national record

Boardman High School senior, Jacob Boyles, competed Sunday, December 3, at the U.S.P.A. (United States Powerlifting Association) Erie Open in Erie, Pa.

He competed in the 165 lb. (75 kg) weight class, 16-17 age group, and broke the Pennsylvania State Records in the Bench Press (307 lbs.), Deadlift (518 lbs.), and Squat (507 lbs.)

Jacob’s squat of 507 lbs. also set a National Record for his weight class.

Jacob is a Spartan wrestler and says he’s had this powerlifting goal in mind for many years and that  he’s been working toward it for a long time.  This was only his second time competing at a U.S.P.A. event.

Spartans Plan Special Hour of Code

From December 4-10, schools around the world will join the Hour of Code movement as part of Computer Science Education Week.

Spartans are 'All In' with plans for every elementary student to participate during that week.

On Wednesday, December 6, from 1:00-2:00 p.m.-- this special hour is blocked out  for every Boardman second grader.  They will have their  "Hour of Code" with Boardman High School Students leading the lessons.

Every second grade classroom in the district  will have two BHS students finding fun ways to introduce the concepts of coding.  That's approximately 30 high schoolers to teach approximately 300 of our young Spartans.
