Boardman High School is proud to announce that senior Lauryn Swantek will continue her academic and athletic career at Clarion University, where she will compete in cross country and track & field while pursuing a degree in medical imaging or early childhood education.
Lauryn leaves an incredible legacy in the Spartan distance program as one of the most accomplished runners in school history. In cross country, she recorded the 24th fastest time in program history, running a personal-best 19:58 and becoming one of only 24 athletes to break the 20-minute mark. She also ranks among just 90 runners in program history to run under 22 minutes β a testament to her consistency and dedication.
A key contributor to team success, Lauryn was a scoring member of:
π 2 Suburban League Championship teams
π 4 Mahoning County Championship teams
π 3 AAC Championship teams
She qualified for the regional meet all four years and played a pivotal role on the first Boardman girls cross country team since 1988 to advance to the OHSAA State Championship, helping mark a historic milestone for the program.
On the track, Lauryn established herself as one of the fastest 3200-meter runners in school history and helped extend the Spartansβ remarkable streak of seven consecutive AAC Championships.
Beyond athletics, Lauryn has been deeply involved at BHS through cheerleading and numerous student organizations, including Medical Careers Club, Spanish Club, Spanish National Honor Society, Big Spartan Little Spartan, and Amigo and Amici β exemplifying excellence both in the classroom and in the community.
π Congratulations, Lauryn! Spartan Nation is proud of you and excited to watch your continued success at the next level.
