Superintendent’s Corner Highlights Key Updates for Boardman Families
Watch Superintendent's Corner April 28
Boardman Local Schools Superintendent Chris Neifer recently shared important updates with the community during the latest Superintendent’s Corner.
One key topic was the 5.9-mill renewal levy on the May ballot. Originally passed 30 years ago, the levy generates approximately $4.2 million annually—about 7% of the district’s general fund budget. District leaders emphasize the importance of community participation in the upcoming vote.
Families with young children are encouraged to begin planning now for the 2026–2027 school year. Kindergarten registration is underway, and spots are filling quickly for the free summer readiness program, Success by Six, which runs from July 6–23. Parents can start the enrollment process by contacting the district enrollment office at 330-259-7189.
Boardman also continues to earn national recognition for its strong arts programming. The district has been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education for the ninth time by the NAMM Foundation, highlighting the strength of its K–12 music programs and strong community support for performances.
In communication updates, the district announced that the REMIND app will be discontinued after this school year. It will be replaced by Apptegy’s “Rooms,” offering enhanced two-way communication between families and staff. Parents are encouraged to download the new Boardman Local Schools app and watch for additional setup information.
Looking ahead, several exciting end-of-year events are on the calendar, including Prom on May 1, Senior Awards on May 12, the Project Mayhem Stadium Show on May 15, and Commencement on May 31 at Spartan Stadium.
For more updates, families are encouraged to stay connected through district communications.
