8th grade and high school students with robotics in STEAM Lab

Glenwood Junior High 8th graders got a firsthand look at all the exciting opportunities waiting for them at Boardman High School during a visit to the new STEAM Lab this morning.

Students split into two groups and rotated through activities, making sure everyone had a chance to experience it all. In the robotics session, they worked with students from the Principles of Robotics class, using student-designed robots to guide soccer balls through a maze and compete on a VEX platform to score goals.

They also teamed up with AP Computer Science Principles students to try out coding with micro:bits. High school students helped guide them through the basics, giving the 8th graders a fun and approachable introduction to programming.

It was a great morning of hands-on learning, teamwork, and a sneak peek at what’s ahead at BHS!
