Boardman Welcomes Transportation Supervisor Nick Deniakis

Boardman School Board Members hired Nick Deniakis  as the new Supervisor of Transportation for the District at a Special Board Meeting on June 16.  

Deniakis has more than a decade of mechanic, shop foreman, and supervisory experience and has been a mechanic at Boardman Local Schools for the past year. He's a BHS graduate, Class of 2001, and says he's looking forward to working with a great team of drivers and serving the families of Boardman.

Elementary Building Phase In Days for grades 1-3 will take place the week of August 29 , 2022. This will provide teachers with a chance to get to know your child as part of a small group and allow them time to assess your child's individual academic levels. This will also help ensure they can better meet his/her needs on the appropriate instructional level on the first day of school.  

MONDAY, AUGUST 29 ---Students with last names A-C should report for the day.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 30 ---Students with last names  D-I should report for the day.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 31  ----Students with last names J-P should report for the day.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 1   -----Students with last names  Q-Z should report for the day.

District Labor Day Break (Friday, Sept. 2 & Monday, Sept. 5)

ALL Elementary Students Report on Tuesday, September 6--First Day for ALL students.

*Kindergarten students will also have phase in days.  Parents will be contacted by your building with specific details.

Success By Six Pre-kindergarten Program Begins July 11 pre- kindergarten students coloring and writing

The Success By Six free program for incoming Boardman kindergarten students begins Monday July 11 and runs through Thursday, July 28. 

The readiness program is held at all three Boardman Elementary Schools from 8:30 AM until Noon. 

The 3-week program runs Monday through Friday, ending on Thursday, July 28.

FREE BUSING PROVIDED – Pickup between 7:45 a.m. - 8:25 a. m.

Parents must register their child for kindergarten to register for the Success By Six program.  Call the Enrollment Office at 330-259-7189 to make an appointment as soon as possible to ensure a spot in the Success by Six summer program.

Spartan families looking for free summer meals for children ages 1-18 can locate the nearest Summer Meal Provider by clicking on this interactive SUMMER LUNCH MAP.

PLEASE NOTE: The USDA's FREE LUNCH FOR ALL PROGRAM  HAS ENDED.  

Beginning with the 2022-23 school year, school lunches are no longer free for all students.  Families must complete an application for Free/Reduced meals.  That application will be available July 1st for the coming school year.

Boardman School Board members revised the Boardman School's Calendar for the 2022-2023 school year at a special board meeting on March 16. CLICK HERE TO SEE 2022-23 SCHOOL CALENDAR

The first day of school for students will be August 29, 2022, and the final day of classes will be Wednesday, June 7, 2023--Commencement is Sunday, June 4, 2023.

 Parents, please review as you make your plans for next school year.

If you missed Kindergarten Registration Day March 10:  Parents are encouraged to register their child for kindergarten as early as possible for the 2022-23 school year.

Spartan Ball Players Put Construction Skills to Work baseball players in woods class make bat cubby

Five Spartan baseball players know how to work together to get a job done--on the field, or in woods class.  

The baseball boosters needed a new bat/helmet organizer for the home dugout.  Woods teacher Marvin Aeschbacher worked with the boys in Woods 2 and 3, to build and paint it.

Glenwood Students Earn Superior and Excellent Ratings at OMEA Competition ohio music education associatin logo

Many of our Boardman Glenwood Junior High School band and orchestra students participated in the Ohio Music Education Association’s annual solo and ensemble competition held at Struthers High School in Struthers, Ohio Saturday, April 9. 

Students prepared and performed solos and small ensembles.  The following students earned the Superior "1" rating and Excellent "2" rating:

BHS Senior's Sculpture Selected for Prestigious Governor's Art Show Anna Zheng with her sculpture made of cardboard called 'Dim Sum'

BHS senior Anna Zheng's sculpture, titled 'Dim Sum' will be among a very select group displayed in the prestigious Governors Art Show in April.  More than 8,000 pieces of student art from high schools across Ohio were submitted, and Anna's was selected in the top 300 chosen to be featured in the show.

Reading aloud to children and giving them access to books is the best way to ensure they are prepared to enter kindergarten. The Ohio Governor’s Imagination Library mails young children one book each month until their 5th birthday. The program is available to all children in Ohio from birth to age 5 at no cost to their families.

Parents and caregivers can enroll their children at OhioImaginationLibrary.org.

Commencement for the Spartan Class of 2022 was held Sunday, June 5 at Spartan Stadium. More than 340 graduating seniors celebrated with family and friends. Congratulations and welcome to our newest Spartan Alumni!

National Honor Society Induction 2022 National Honor Society Logo

Boardman High School held its National Honor Society Induction Ceremony on Wednesday, March 30.  A total of 58 juniors and 6 seniors were inducted. 

The four pillars of National Honor Society are Scholarship, Service, Leadership and Character.  We congratulate these young ladies and gentlemen on their selection to this well-repected honor society.

BHS Students Create Non-Profit for Student Led Tutoring and Support Superintendent Saxton, Vincent Dong and Austin Ward

Spartan Proud of BHS juniors Vincent Dong and Austin Ward.  They presented to Valley school  superintendents on October 13 at the ESC of Eastern Ohio.  They founded "Cognitia" -- a student lead national non-profit --  to supply free tutoring and educational support to students K-12.

Beginning in the 2022-23 school year, biometric finger scanners will be used in K-8 buildings to make the lunch line move faster and allow students more time to eat.
