WFMJ TODAY TV 21 Interviews Superintendent Neifer
Boardman Local Schools Superintendent Chris Neifer appeared April 22 on WFMJ Today with Milaynia Spiva to discuss the district’s renewal levy on the May 5 ballot.
The 5.9-mill levy is a renewal—not a new tax—and has been in place since it was first approved by voters in 1996. It generates approximately $4.2 million annually, accounting for about 7% of the district’s $60 million general fund budget.
Because it is a fixed, five-year renewal, residents will see no increase in taxes if it passes.
The levy supports essential day-to-day operations across the district, including:
Educational materials such as textbooks, software, and classroom supplies
Utilities and maintenance, including electric and water services
Transportation costs, including fuel and bus upkeep
Personnel and staffing expenses
District leaders emphasize that the renewal helps maintain current programs and services without adding new financial burden on taxpayers.
