What can you build with LEGO bricks when you add coding and a little creativity? Robinwood Elementary students are about to find out!
Thanks to a $3,600 grant from the GPD Group Employees Foundation, Robinwood Principal Billie Jo Johnson secured eight LEGO computer science and artificial intelligence (AI) kits through the project “STEAM Rolling into the Future.”
Students will build moving LEGO creations and program them to navigate mazes, developing skills in coding, engineering and problem-solving. Six kits are designed for grades 3–5, while two newly released kits introduce younger students in kindergarten through second grade to these concepts.
The GPD Group Employees Foundation, established by employees of the Akron-based architecture, engineering and planning firm, awards grants to K–12 public schools to enrich learning and improve the lives of children in their communities.
This grant brings new opportunities for Robinwood students to explore STEAM learning through hands-on discovery, creativity and fun!
