TV anchor Len Rome with HomeTown Hero Patrick Kale on BPAC stage with pat holding the award

What began as a television story about Boardman High School’s Haunted BPAC turned into a much bigger surprise for one very deserving Spartan!

In mid-October, WYTV33 news anchor Len Rome visited BHS under the guise of covering the popular student-run Haunted BPAC. But instead of simply highlighting the annual Halloween fundraiser, Rome surprised BPAC Supervisor Patrick Kale with the station’s Hometown Hero Award!  Click to Watch

The recognition comes as no surprise to those who know Pat and the incredible impact he has on Boardman’s performing arts programs. From directing outstanding musical productions like Frozen to preparing for this year’s spring musical, Peter Pan, Pat wears countless hats behind the scenes. He builds sets, designs and operates lighting, and teaches students the technical skills that bring productions to life. He's also one of the core group responsible for the continued high caliber successes of Boardman's own "Project Mayhem" Rock Orchestra shows.

Whether he's directing a musical, mentoring students, building elaborate sets or transforming the BPAC into a Halloween experience, Pat's dedication goes far beyond the spotlight. He is helping students discover their talents, develop new skills and create experiences they will remember long after graduation.
