First and foremost, I want to thank the Boardman community for its support and for believing in our students and our schools. We recognize that this support comes with a great deal of trust and responsibility, and we do not take that for granted.
At the same time, yesterday’s results do not eliminate the financial challenges facing Boardman Local Schools. We still have difficult work ahead of us, and we will continue to make responsible decisions with the resources our community has provided.
We must also continue advocating at the state level for meaningful school funding reform. Our communities deserve a fair, predictable funding system that allows us to provide the educational opportunities our students deserve without placing an ever-increasing burden on local taxpayers.
We are grateful for your support. Today, we get back to work for our students and our community.

Our BGJHS 7th and 8th grade boys cross country team posed with their new shirts this morning to celebrate one VERY special season!
Our Spartans went undefeated, finishing FIRST PLACE at every meet and invitational they competed in this season. What an incredible accomplishment and a season worth celebrating!
We are beyond proud of these athletes and their coaches. The future is bright, and we are grateful to have a front-row seat to all the amazing things this group will accomplish.

🎃 A little creativity, a little competition, and LOTS of learning!
Stadium Drive second graders put their engineering skills to the test with a Pumpkin Candy Catapult Challenge! Using just popsicle sticks, rubber bands, and a spoon, students designed and built catapults to launch candy pumpkins at different target stations.
They earned points for accuracy and were encouraged to make adjustments to improve their results along the way. A fun, hands-on lesson in problem-solving, engineering, and learning from trial and error! 🚀🎯🎃

It's Red Ribbon Week--and today, students at Robinwood Elementary received special Red Ribbons from two officers in the DEA.

📈💰 Spartans on Wall Street! Two dozen Boardman High School students put their investing skills to the test Oct. 23 at YSU’s Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge, jockeying for position in a fast-paced competition where every minute counted!
Students from Mrs. Matiste’s and Mrs. Pendleton’s Personal Finance classes tracked company trends, reacted to breaking (fictional!) news and raced through 60 “days” of market activity. The leaderboard kept everyone on their toes! 📊
🏆 A special shoutout to the “Profit Pioneers”! Junior Evan Moorman and sophomores Tyler Holcomb and Evangelos Coutris earned 2nd place out of nearly three dozen teams! They brought home a trophy and $150 each!

Boardman Fire safety officer James Yocum visited our 3 Food & Nutrition classes this week-- with fire extinguishers and the electronic screen.
For many students, it was the first time holding a fire extinguisher--and a great lesson on fire and kitchen safety!
Sneak Peak of the Homecoming Band Performance! It takes practice, but also it was so much fun as dozens of alumni attended a 90 minute practice Thursday with the current marching band!
More than 300 alumni are expected, and there will be another run through a few hours before Kickoff on October 2. The Band's alumni will join them for halftime.
Seeing this in person is the BEST way--but you can also watch on BSTN's livestream of tonight's game.

This marks the 10th year of an incredible partnership between Boardman Subaru and Glenwood Junior High. Through the years, Boardman alumnus and dealership owner Rob Fellman and his team have supported everything from our Natural Habitat Garden to science books, school supplies and now classroom resources for teachers!
This year's donation was made through the Subaru Loves Learning® initiative in partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org®.

Section leaders played the National Anthem at the Opening Ceremony, where Spartan Alum Bernie Kosar was among the dignitaries on the stage.
The Traditional Band Show at the Grandstand was filled with wonderful music from 14 bands across the Valley-- and in this "100th Anniversary Year" of the Boardman Marching Band- we could not be more Spartan proud!!
