What a great performance from the Boardman Spartan Marching Band today, as they helped kick off Opening Day at the Canfield Fair.
Section leaders played the National Anthem at the Opening Ceremony, where Spartan Alum Bernie Kosar was among the dignitaries on the stage.
The Traditional Band Show at the Grandstand was filled with wonderful music from 14 bands across the Valley-- and in this "100th Anniversary Year" of the Boardman Marching Band- we could not be more Spartan proud!!

Summer school at Glenwood Jr. High is kicking it up a notch this year! ☀️🔬🤖

Students are strengthening skills in the classroom while also diving into hands-on, project-based learning with special guest instructors.

This week, Superintendent Chris Neifer and his wife, a BHS grad and local chemistry teacher Amy Neifer, challenged students to think like scientists. Students grew crystals and tackled a water filtration challenge, using dirty pond water, sand, rocks, cotton, and coffee filters to see who could create the clearest water. The activities encouraged teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving while making science fun and engaging.

And there's more to come!

🔹 Mr. Harker will introduce students to robotics.
🔹 BHS teacher Mr. Popio will host students in the STEAM Lab for an IT building project.
🔹 Facilities Director Mr. Fonderlin will take students behind the scenes of major district projects, including the Spartan Stadium turf replacement and other construction improvements happening across Boardman Local Schools.

Summer learning is about more than academics—it's about exploring interests, building skills, and discovering how classroom lessons connect to the real world. Great things are happening at Glenwood this summer!

Kindergartners at Stadium Drive celebrated Memorial Day through song this morning, honoring those who serve and have served our country. After weeks of practice, students delivered a performance that was equal parts adorable and meaningful, reminding us all of the importance of gratitude and patriotism. Our youngest performers brought such heart to the stage, and that is a direct result of the incredible preparation and work happening behind the scenes by our kindergarten teachers to make this special show possible. We truly live in a great country, and this Memorial Day weekend, we take time to reflect, remember, and be grateful for those who have sacrificed for our freedoms.❤️🤍💙

Mrs. Pendleton’s Entrepreneurship Class hosted its Business Expo today, featuring 12 business concepts developed by students in grades 9-12.

The young entrepreneurs showcased ideas in transportation, babysitting, tutoring, clothing merchandise, baked goods, landscaping, floor cleaning, and food trucks — complete with creative branding and marketing plans.

Some catchy business names included “Playtime Nannies,” “Giggle and Grub” Food Truck, “Boardman’s Bounty” bakery, and “Crystal Clear” cleaning service. Students also considered pricing, insurance, labor and material costs, and local competition as part of their business plans.

Great job by these future business leaders!
